Below are some of the local areas of interest we recommend that are within two or three blocks of Artists Inn.
The Curbside Café 2417 California Street (a little west of Fillmore)
The Curbside is a small Pacific Heights bistro. It does breakfast, lunch and dinner and weekend brunches. Mostly a café for Pacific Heights types because of its good foods, marvelous wines and reasonable prices, it captures San Francisco as well as any restaurant in the city. Open 9:00am to 10:00pm
Note: The Curbside offers guests of Artists Inn a 50% discount on breakfasts, plus a complimentary glass of wine with dinner.
La Boulange Bakery 2325 Pine Street (a little west of Fillmore on Pine)
This is a great place to get coffee and pastries in the morning. They make all their own pastries. So everything is fresh. Some of the best pastries in the city. Very popular. Yelp loves it. Open 7 to 6 pm.
Kiehls Skin Care Cosmetics 1971 Fillmore Street (at Pine)
They started just up the street ten years ago. Now they are all over the country. Many people say this is the best store still. People come from all over the country to visit this store. Open 10:00am to 7:00pm
Out the Door 2232 Bush St. (just west of Fillmore)
Quality contemporary Asian cuisine kinda describes it. This Vietnamese restaurant has excellent food, wonderful coffees, wonderful wines. I doubt you will find a restaurant in Vietnam with cooking this good. It is a loud place, so be ready for that. Some people love it; some hate it, but it is very Pacific Heights. Open 9:00 am to 10pm with a brake between 4:30 and 5:30 pm.
Harry’s Bar 2020 Fillmore (just off Pine)
A neighborhood bar for over 38 years, Harry’s Bar is famous as a singles bar, as you can see from this link. It is an elegant bar designed in dark mahogany wood, refined leather with plenty of antique brass. Closes at 2:00 am.
Mollie Stone’s 2435 California Street (a little West of Fillmore)
For catered foods, for prepared foods, for fresh foods and good wines, this is a great super market. Also, if you have a big load, they will shuttle you back to where you are staying.
Dino’s Pizza 2101 Fillmore St (right at the corner of California and Fillmore)
Dino’s is another Pacific Heights landmark. It is a great pizza place for lunch and dinner. It is small and casual, and it has great food. If Dino or his cousin are there, you might get a free desert. It is an old school pizza place with updated design. Open 11am to 11pm
